About the event

Cheers!!! Cheers!!!

Join your local crafter aka host, Abby Vincent, Care Services Manager, Laura Johnso, Sr VP of Care Services and colleagues at Joy's House at Kismetic Beer Company for some brewing conversation on end of life.

Death over Drafts is an informal event about all things death and dying. We will be brewing up conversations using The Death Deck, a lively tool to navigate many topics related to death. Most of all, we want to encourage meaningful connections and have fun while de-stigmatizing talk about the inevitable.

A Death over Drafts gathering will include 30 minutes of mingling, 60 minutes of playing The Death Deck followed by 30 minutes of reflection.

Contact Abby to let her know you will be coming:

  • Event is free
  • All our welcome
  • Snacks will be provided and 1st drink taken care of!
  • You can still come if you don't love beer ;)
  • This is a super supportive community yet we are not a support group
  • In this communal environment, we remind you to be responsible for your own engagement.

Death over Drafts Happy Hour started with a brewing vision to bring people together and create meaningful connections by combining two passions—craft beer and conversations on end-of-life.

The first in person event was held as part of Let's Reimagine Festival (2019) in San Francisco. Since then Death over Drafts has had success at different greater Los Angeles breweries and on Zoom when we pivoted during COVID.
